    Good morning Debra
My name is Samantha Arnold, I have been in contack with Karen Hutchinson of Good Shepherd and also Jenny Glare from MacKillop family services who have been assisting my mother Anna and I in tracking some evidence of her life while she was in care.
The reason I am reaching out to you is that I am trying to find some possible records of her being in residence in her infant/youth years with The daughters of Charity back in the 1940s……between 1942-1949
I am hoping you can assist me with finding any documentation or records that show that she was in the care of this organisation.

A bit of background for you.
My mother Anna Patricia Brooks; was born on 19/05/1942 her birth name was Deirdre Ann Hodgson
Her mothers’ name was Patricia Adoree Hodgson. There was no father listed.
We have records for her birth and also o/f her infant years where she was placed into St Josephs’ Founding hospital, from 1/11/1942-30/4/1944; being discharged to her birth mother Patricia Adoree Hodgson.
Anna was legally adopted, records show 18/08/1944 where her name was changed to Barbara Ann Cerda-Pavia. Her adoptive parents christian names were Peter Joseph and Elsie Victoria and resided at 105 Valentine Street Ivanhoe
In 1950 my mum was surrendered to the Good Shepherd at Abbotsford; where her name was documented as Anne Hodson, and through the cursive writing it looks like Anna has been recorded.
I believe your records would have my mother listed as Deirdre Ann Hodgson OR Barbara Ann Cerda-Pavia

There’s a space of time that we can’t figure out and was hoping you would be able to help us, We have records from The Good Shepherd stating that my mum was admitted to Abbotsford Convent on the 14/02/1950 and came from Marillac house. In these records it also states that Ann Hodson was Baptised at St. Finnbar’s East Brighton whilst in care Marillac House.

Oh, by the way…. Anna has been married since 1967 to my darling Dad; Clive Brooks
We are hoping that there would be some records in your achieves that could help my beautiful mum Anna fill in some gaps. It’s been such a big arduous task linking the missing pieces together thus far.

I look forward to hearing from you,

    Samantha Arnold nee Brooks
